01 "An Act making an appropriation for support of kindergarten, primary, and                                               
02 secondary education programs and for the community schools program for fiscal                                           
03 year 1997; and providing for an effective date."                                                                        
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  (a)  The sum of $710,687,200 is appropriated from the general fund to the                              
06 forward funding account (AS 14.07.065) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997, for the                                
07 following purposes: public school foundation program, child nutrition program,  cigarette tax                           
08 distribution program, tuition students program, boarding home grants program, youth in                                  
09 detention program, pupil transportation program, schools for the handicapped program, and                               
10 community schools program.                                                                                              
11  (b)  The amount appropriated by (a) of this section is reduced by an amount equal to                                   
12 that appropriated to the Department of Education for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1997,                              
13 from any of the following fund sources for any of the following purposes:                                               
14   (1)  fund sources: general fund/mental health income account (AS 37.14.036),                                          

01 public school trust fund (AS 37.14.110), school fund (AS 43.50.140), and federal receipts;                              
02   (2)  purposes: public school foundation program, child nutrition program,                                             
03 cigarette tax distribution program, tuition students program, boarding home grants program,                             
04 youth in detention program, pupil transportation program, schools for the handicapped                                   
05 program, and community schools program.                                                                                 
06    * Sec. 2.  The appropriation made by this Act is contingent upon the passage by the                                  
07 legislature and the enactment into law before January 1, 1996,  of a bill establishing the                              
08 forward funding account.                                                                                                
09    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1995.
