00HOUSE BILL NO. 68 01 "An Act relating to primary election nominees for state executive and legislative 02 offices and regulating the nomination of the candidates for those offices whose 03 names shall be placed on the general election ballot." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 15.25.100 is amended to read: 06  Sec. 15.25.100. PLACEMENT OF NOMINEES ON GENERAL ELECTION 07 BALLOT. For the offices of United States senator or United States representative, 08 the [THE] director shall place on the general election ballot the name of the 09 candidate receiving the highest number of votes for an office by a political party [ON 10 THE GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT]. 11 * Sec. 2. AS 15.25.100 is amended by adding new subsections to read: 12  (b) For each state legislative office, the director shall place on the general 13 election ballot only the names of the candidates receiving the highest number of votes 14 and the second highest number of votes for the office.

01  (c) For the office of governor, the director shall place on the general election 02 ballot only the names of the candidates for governor receiving the highest number of 03 votes and the second highest number of votes. For the office of lieutenant governor, 04 the director shall place on the general election ballot with a candidate for governor the 05 name of the candidate for lieutenant governor who received the highest number of 06 votes and who is from the same political party as that candidate for governor.
