01 "An Act relating to canned salmon classics; and providing for an effective date."                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 05.15.100(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
04  (a)  The department may issue a permit to a municipality or qualified                                                 
05 organization. The permit gives the municipality or qualified organization the privilege                                 
06 of conducting bingo, raffles and lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics,                                
07 goose classics, mercury classics, canned salmon classics, salmon classics, king salmon                                
08 classics, dog mushers' contests, fish derbies, and contests of skill.                                                   
09    * Sec. 2.  AS 05.15.115(c) is amended to read:                                                                       
10  (c)  A permittee may not contract with more than one operator at a time to                                            
11 conduct the same type of activity. For the purposes of this subsection, bingo games,                                    
12 raffles, lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics, goose classics, mercury                                
13 classics, canned salmon classics, salmon classics, king salmon classics, dog mushers'                                 
14 contests, fish derbies, contests of skill, and all activities permitted under                                           

01 AS 05.15.100(b) are each a different type of activity.                                                                  
02    * Sec. 3.  AS 05.15.180(b) is amended to read:                                                                       
03  (b)  With the exception of raffles, lotteries, bingo games, pull-tab games, rain                                      
04 classics, goose classics, mercury classics, canned salmon classics, salmon classics,                                  
05 king salmon classics, and other activities authorized under AS 05.15.100(b), an activity                                
06 may not be licensed under this chapter unless it existed in the state in substantially the                              
07 same form and was conducted in substantially the same manner before January 1,                                          
08 1959.                                                                                                                   
09    * Sec. 4.  AS 05.15.210 is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                                
10   (41)  "canned salmon classic" means a game of chance where a prize                                                   
11 of money is awarded to the closest guess of the total number of cases of canned                                         
12 salmon that will be packed at the Petersburg salmon canneries during a certain period                                   
13 of time and is limited to the canned salmon classic operated and administered by the                                    
14 Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.                                                                                         
15    * Sec. 5.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
