00SENATE BILL NO. 242 am H 01 "An Act relating to office hours of state agencies." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to read: 04 ARTICLE 2. STATE AGENCY OFFICE HOURS. 05 Sec. 44.12.200. STATE AGENCY OFFICE HOURS. (a) It is the policy of 06 the state that, to the extent practicable, state agency offices that are intended to provide 07 services directly to the public shall schedule the hours of work of their employees so 08 that the offices are open at the times most convenient to the individuals being served 09 and staffed by employees working forty hours per week. Each office shall review the 10 preferences and needs of its clientele and shall recommend to the commissioner or 11 other executive head of the state agency the most suitable hours of operation for that 12 specific location. Each office shall periodically review its hours of operation. 13 (b) In this section, "state agency" means a department, institution, board, 14 commission, division, authority, public corporation, committee, or other administrative
01 unit of the executive branch of state government, including the University of Alaska, 02 the Alaska Railroad Corporation, and the Alaska Aerospace Development Corporation.
