01 "An Act permitting certain municipalities to participate in the deferred                                                
02 compensation program for state employees."                                                                              
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 39.45.020(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (a)  The administration of the deferred compensation program for state                                                
06 employees is under the direction of the Department of Administration.  A political                                      
07 subdivision coming under the provisions of this chapter shall designate the office or                                   
08 official to administer its program.  A political subdivision that is a participating                                   
09 employer in the supplemental employee benefit program under AS 39.30.150 -                                              
10 39.30.180 may designate the Department of Administration as the office to                                               
11 administer its program.  A political subdivision that chooses to transfer the                                           
12 administration of an existing deferred compensation program to the Department                                           
13 of Administration may also transfer existing deferred compensation fund balances                                        
14 to the state program.
