01 "An Act providing for an economic study of the fisheries of southcentral Alaska;                                        
02 and providing for an effective date."                                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  ECONOMIC STUDY OF SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA FISHERIES.  (a)                                                  
05 The commissioner of fish and game and the commissioner of commerce and economic                                         
06 development shall jointly conduct a study of the economic contribution of commercial, sport,                            
07 and guided sport fisheries of southcentral Alaska to the state.  The study must include a                               
08 review of the economic importance of each commercial, sport, and guided sport fishery of                                
09 southcentral Alaska to the state.  The study shall also make recommendations for the                                    
10 allocation of the southcentral Alaska fisheries resources among the commercial, sport, and                              
11 guided sport fisheries in order to maximize the economic benefit of the southcentral Alaska                             
12 fisheries resources to the state.                                                                                       
13  (b)  The commissioner of fish and game and the commissioner of commerce and                                            
14 economic development shall submit the completed report to the governor, the legislature, and                            

01 the Board of Fisheries by January 1, 1995.                                                                              
02  (c)  For the purposes of this section "southcentral Alaska" means the land and water                                   
03 of, or draining into, Cook Inlet.                                                                                       
04    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
