01 "An Act providing for an advisory vote of the people concerning a preferred                                             
02 alternative for increasing revenue available to support state government; and                                           
03 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  (a) The lieutenant governor shall place before the qualified voters of the state                       
06 at the November 1994 general election a question advisory to the legislature relating to a                              
07 preferred method of increasing revenue available to support state government.  The question                             
08 shall appear on the ballot substantially in the following form:                                                         
09 QUESTION                                                                                                                
10 Of the various alternatives listed below, indicate which one                                                          
11 method of obtaining additional revenue you prefer.  Select not                                                          
12 more than one of the alternatives.                                                                                      
13    A state income tax    [ ]                                                                                            
14    A state sales tax    [ ]                                                                                             

01    Set a maximum limit on                                                                                               
02       permanent fund earnings to                                                                                        
03       be distributed as dividends                                                                                       
04       to residents     [ ].                                                                                             
05  (b)  The lieutenant governor may not count any ballot on which a voter has                                            
06 selected more than one of the alternatives set out in (a) of this section.                                              
07   * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
