01 "An Act relating to the management of Cook Inlet stocks of salmon."                                                     
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
04  Sec. 16.05.740.  MANAGEMENT OF COOK INLET SOCKEYE SALMON.                                                             
05 Subject to AS 16.05.258, it is the policy of the state that each year a number of                                       
06 sockeye salmon equal to at least 15 percent of the sockeye salmon from Cook Inlet                                       
07 stocks taken in the commercial Cook Inlet central district fisheries be utilized                                        
08 exclusively for sport fishing purposes in the Kenai, Susitna, and other river systems                                   
09 draining into Cook Inlet.  The in-river harvest of Cook Inlet stocks of sockeye salmon                                  
10 in the Cook Inlet region for sport fishing purposes shall be allocated among the river                                  
11 systems of the region in the proportion that each river system has traditionally                                        
12 contributed the production of sockeye salmon in the region.
