01 "An Act relating to voter approval of a new state capitol building; and providing                                       
02 for an effective date."                                                                                                 
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 44.06.020 is amended to read:                                                                       
05  Sec. 44.06.020.  VOTER APPROVAL OF A NEW CAPITOL. Notwithstanding                                                     
06 other provisions of law, the state may not use a building constructed after 1993 as a                                   
07 state capitol, or for office space for legislators or the Office of the Governor, unless                                
08 the building is approved as the new state capitol building in a statewide vote.                                         
09    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
