01 "An Act requiring a licensed pilot for a tug boat used with an oil barge on a                                           
02 river in a pilotage region."                                                                                            
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 08.62.185(b) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (b)  The pilot required in [(a) OF] this section shall control the vessel during                                      
06 all docking operations.                                                                                                 
07    * Sec. 2.  AS 08.62.185 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                               
08  (c)  Notwithstanding AS 08.62.180, an oil barge, as defined in AS 46.04.900,                                          
09 whether enrolled or registered, of 500 dead weight gross tons or greater, shall be                                      
10 assisted by a tugboat piloted by a pilot licensed under this chapter when navigating a                                  
11 river within a pilotage region established by the board under AS 08.62.040(a)(4)(A).
