01 "An Act relating to fees for a commercial fishing vessel license."                                                      
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  INTENT.  It is the intent of the legislature that the revenue generated by this                        
04 Act be appropriated to the Department of Fish and Game for the management, rehabilitation,                              
05 enhancement, development, and scientific study of the commercial fishery resources of the                               
06 state.                                                                                                                  
07    * Sec. 2.  AS 16.05.530(a) is amended to read:                                                                       
08  (a)  Upon payment of a license fee [OF $20 FOR ONE YEAR OR $40 FOR                                                    
09 TWO YEARS AT THE OPTION OF THE OWNER,] and filing of the name and                                                       
10 address of the owner of the vessel or the owner's authorized agent, the name and                                        
11 number of the vessel, a description of the vessel, vessel license number, if any, the                                   
12 area to be fished, and other reasonable information required by the Commercial                                          
13 Fisheries Entry Commission, the commission shall issue a number plate and a vessel                                      
14 license.  If the vessel has a number plate, the commission shall issue a vessel license                                 

01 and tab designating the year or years the license is valid.  The tab shall be placed in                                 
02 the space provided on the permanent number plate. The license fee for two years is                                     
03 twice the annual license fee.  The annual license fee is set according to the overall                                   
04 length, as defined by the United States Coast Guard, of the vessel under the                                            
05 following schedule:                                                                                                     
06   (1)  0 - 25 feet . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $20

12    * Sec. 3.  APPLICABILITY.  The vessel license fees established under this Act are                                    
13 applicable to vessel licenses for 1994 and subsequent years that are issued after the effective                         
14 date of this Act.
