00CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 218(FSH) 01 "An Act relating to the maximum length of salmon seine vessels; and providing 02 for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 16.05.835 is amended to read: 05 Sec. 16.05.835. MAXIMUM LENGTH OF SALMON SEINE VESSELS. 06 Except as otherwise provided by the Board of Fisheries by regulation, a [A] 07 salmon seine vessel may not be longer than 58 feet overall length except vessels that 08 have fished for salmon with seines in waters of the state before January 1, 1962, as 09 50-foot, official Coast Guard register length vessels. In this section, "overall length" 10 means the straight line length between the extremities of the vessel excluding anchor 11 rollers. 12 * Sec. 2. AS 16.05.835 is repealed and reenacted to read: 13 Sec. 16.05.835. MAXIMUM LENGTH OF SALMON SEINE VESSELS. The 14 Board of Fisheries may adopt regulations for each salmon seine fishery specifying the
01 maximum length of a vessel that may be used in the fishery. 02 * Sec. 3. Section 1 of this Act takes effect January 1, 1994. 03 * Sec. 4. Section 2 of this Act takes effect January 1, 1997.
