00HOUSE BILL NO. 140 01 "An Act relating to the king salmon tag fee." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. INTENT. It is the intent of the legislature that the proceeds from the sale of 04 resident and nonresident king salmon tags be appropriated for king salmon sport fishing 05 research, management, and enhancement projects. 06 * Sec. 2. AS 16.05.340(a)(24) is amended to read: 07  (24) Nonresident king salmon tag -- valid for the period inscribed on 08 the tag 09  (A) for a one-day tag. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 5 10  (B) for a three-day tag . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .15 11  (C) for a 14-day or annual tag . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .30 [$20]. 12 A nonresident may not engage in sport fishing for king salmon without having a valid 13 [THE CURRENT YEAR'S] king salmon tag in the person's actual possession. 14 * Sec. 3. AS 16.05.350 is amended to read:

01  Sec. 16.05.350. EXPIRATION OF LICENSES AND TAGS. Licenses and tags 02 required under AS 16.05.330 - 16.05.430, except biennial licenses, the nonresident 03 special sport fishing license, the resident trapping license, the one, three, or 14-day 04 nonresident king salmon tag, and the waterfowl conservation tag, expire at the close 05 of December 31 following issuance. Biennial licenses expire after December 31 of the 06 year following the year of issuance. The resident trapping license expires at the close 07 of September 30 of the year following the year in which the license is issued. The 08 waterfowl conservation tag expires at the close of January 31 of the year following the 09 year of issue of the tag.
