01 "An Act relating to introduction of bills by the supreme court; and providing                                           
02 for an effective date."                                                                                                 
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 24.08.060 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
05  (c)  The supreme court may recommend bills it considers necessary.  A bill                                            
06 may be delivered to the rules committee of either house with a letter signed by the                                     
07 chief justice requesting introduction on behalf of the court.  The bill shall be                                        
08 introduced with the inscription "Rules Committee by Request of the Alaska Supreme                                       
09 Court" and it shall be considered to carry the approval of the court as to policy and                                   
10 effect on the budget.  The court may submit a statement of purpose and effect with the                                  
11 bill and appear through a representative before any committee considering the                                           
12 legislation.                                                                                                            
13    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
