00HOUSE BILL NO. 50 01 "An Act authorizing the Anchorage to Kenai Peninsula and the Healy to 02 Fairbanks power transmission interties and approving the design and construction 03 costs of the interties; and providing for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. In accordance with AS 44.83.185(c) and contingent upon sec. 3 of this Act, 06 the Alaska Energy Authority is authorized to design and construct a 138 kilovolt power 07 transmission intertie between Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula at a cost of $103,500,000. 08 The transmission line shall be capable of being upgraded to 230 kilovolts. 09 * Sec. 2. In accordance with AS 44.83.185(c) and contingent upon sec. 3 of this Act, the 10 Alaska Energy Authority is authorized to design and construct a 138 kilovolt power 11 transmission intertie between Healy and Fairbanks at a cost of $76,500,000. The transmission 12 line shall be capable of being upgraded to 230 kilovolts. 13 * Sec. 3. The authorizations made by this Act are contingent upon written agreements 14 between the Alaska Energy Authority and participating electric utilities providing that the
01 participating utilities agree to pay 02 (1) 50 percent of the design and construction costs for the power transmission 03 interties authorized by this Act; and 04 (2) the operation and maintenance costs of the power transmission interties 05 authorized by this Act. 06 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
