01 Extending the governor's October 9, 2025, declaration of a disaster emergency in response to                            
02 the 2025 West Coast Storm.

04 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                             
05      WHEREAS, on October 9, 2025, the governor declared a disaster emergency,                                           
06 following the 2025 West Coast Storm; and                                                                                
07      WHEREAS the condition of the disaster emergency was extended in November of                                        
08 2025, December of 2025, and January of 2026, and on February 6, 2026, with the disaster                                 
09 emergency expiring on March 8, 2026; and                                                                                
10      WHEREAS the effects of the storm remain severe, and infrastructure systems from                                    
11 the original storm, as well as ongoing emergency actions, are necessary to respond to those                             
12 effects; and                                                                                                            
13      WHEREAS, under AS 26.23.020(c), "[a] proclamation of disaster emergency may                                        
14 not remain in effect longer than 30 days unless extended by the legislature by a concurrent                             
15 resolution"; and                                                                                                        
16      WHEREAS an additional extension will allow agencies to continue the agencies'                                      
17 emergency response to meet the disaster;                                                                                
01      BE IT RESOLVED that, under AS 26.23.020(c), the Alaska State Legislature                                           
02 extends the October 9, 2025, disaster emergency declared by the governor for the 2025 West                              
03 Coast Storm until April 7, 2026; and be it                                                                              
04      FURTHER RESOLVED by the Alaska State Legislature that the extension of the                                         
05 October 9, 2025, disaster emergency declared by the governor for the 2025 West Coast Storm                              
06 be made retroactive to March 8, 2026.
