01 "An Act relating to payment of legislator salaries; disapproving recommendations of the                                 
02 State Officers Compensation Commission; and providing for an effective date."                                           
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 24.10.120 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05 (c)  Upon request of a legislator, the legislator shall receive the legislator's total                                  
06 salary for a calendar year before June 1 of that year. If the legislator, or the estate of                              
07 the legislator, receives the total salary, the legislator, or the estate of the legislator, is                          
08 indebted to the state on a pro rata basis for the time during the calendar year that the                                
09       legislator does not serve in office.                                                                              
10    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12 DISAPPROVAL OF THE STATE OFFICERS COMPENSATION COMMISSION'S                                                             
13 RECOMMENDATIONS. Notwithstanding the 60-day time limit in AS 39.23.540(d), the                                          
14 recommendations for governor, lieutenant governor, department head, and legislator salaries                             
01 contained in the final report of the State Officers Compensation Commission, as amended on                              
02 March 15, 2023, are disapproved.                                                                                        
03    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
