01 "An Act relating to claims against protection and indemnity insurance policies of vessel                                
02 owners; and providing for an effective date."                                                                           
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 23.35.145 is amended to read:                                                                      
05 Sec. 23.35.145. Claim of vessel owner. If a fisherman files a claim for                                               
06 benefits under this chapter and also files a claim against the protection and indemnity                                 
07 insurance policy of the vessel owner, the vessel owner is entitled to receive a benefit,                                
08       not to exceed the amount of the actual loss, that is the lesser of                                                
09                 (1)  the full amount of the protection and indemnity insurance policy                                   
10       deductible; or                                                                                                    
11                 (2)  $10,000 [$5,000].                                                                              
12    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
