01 "An Act relating to the definition of 'victim.'"                                                                        
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 12.55.185(19) is amended to read:                                                                  
04                 (19)  "victim" means                                                                                    
05                      (A)  a person against whom an offense has been perpetrated; or                                 
06                      (B)  one of the following, not the perpetrator, if the person                                      
07 specified in (A) of this paragraph is a minor, incompetent, [OR] incapacitated,                                     
08            or dead:                                                                                                 
09                           (i)  an individual living in a spousal relationship with the                                  
10                 person specified in (A) of this paragraph or who was living in a                                    
11                 spousal relationship with the person specified in (A) of this                                       
12                 paragraph when the person died; [OR]                                                                
13                           (ii)  a parent, [ADULT] child, brother, sister,                                           
14                 grandparent, grandchild, guardian, or custodian of the person; or                               
15                           (iii)  any other interested person, as may be                                             
01                 designated by a person having authority in law to do so                                             
02                      [(C)  ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, NOT THE                                                                
03            PERPETRATOR, IF THE PERSON SPECIFIED IN (A) OF THIS                                                          
04            PARAGRAPH IS DEAD:                                                                                           
05                           (i)  A PERSON LIVING IN A SPOUSAL                                                             
06                 RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DECEASED BEFORE THE                                                               
07                 DECEASED DIED;                                                                                          
08                           (ii)  AN ADULT CHILD, PARENT, BROTHER,                                                        
09                 SISTER, GRANDPARENT, OR GRANDCHILD OF THE                                                               
10                 DECEASED; OR                                                                                            
11                           (iii)  ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSON, AS MAY                                                    
12                 BE DESIGNATED BY A PERSON HAVING AUTHORITY IN LAW                                                       
13                 TO DO SO].
