00 HOUSE BILL NO. 377 01 "An Act relating to educational and outreach activities for Canadian citizens." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 04 to read: 05 SHORT TITLE. This Act may be known as the Canadian Refugees are Welcome in 06 Alaska Act. 07 * Sec. 2. AS 44.33 is amended by adding a new section to read: 08 Article 6A. Educational and Outreach Activities. 09 Sec. 44.33.390. Educational and Outreach Activities. The Department of 10 Commerce, Community, and Economic Development shall establish and implement 11 appropriate educational and outreach activities for Canadian citizens, including 12 Canadian citizens from the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and the British 13 Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan Provinces, Canadians with refugee status under 14 federal law, and Canadians that have been granted asylum under federal law. 15 Educational and outreach activities under this section must include information on the 01 beauty of the state, the rights that residents possess as residents of the state and United 02 States, the process for applying for United States citizenship, tax policies that apply to 03 state residents, statistics on ownership of and access to firearms for personal protection 04 in the state, the status of any statewide mandates relating to the novel coronavirus 05 disease, and other benefits of state residency.
