01 "An Act relating to certificates of fitness for plumbers and electricians."                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 18.62.050 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
04 (d)  Except for a plumber utility trainee level certificate of fitness, the                                             
05 department may not issue a trainee level certificate of fitness under (a) of this section                               
06 unless the applicant is indentured in an apprenticeship program registered with the                                     
07 United States Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, or a state apprenticeship                                  
08 agency recognized by the United States Department of Labor, Office of                                                   
09       Apprenticeship.                                                                                                   
10    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12       APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to applications for a trainee level certificate of                                
13 fitness submitted on or after the effective date of this Act.
