01 "An Act relating to special motor vehicle registration plates honoring Alaska Native                                    
02 heritages."                                                                                                             
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 28.10.181 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05 (ll)  Special request plates honoring Alaska Native heritages. Upon application                                         
06 by the owner of a motor vehicle, the department may issue registration plates honoring                                  
07 Alaska Native heritages. The commissioner shall determine the design and color of the                                   
08 plates. The department may disapprove the issuance of registration plates under this                                    
09       subsection when the requested plates are a duplicate of an existing registration.                                 
10    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12 CONSULTATION WITH THE HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON TRIBAL                                                                 
13 AFFAIRS. The commissioner of administration shall, before the First Regular Session of the                              
14 Thirty-Second Alaska State Legislature convenes and before determining the design of the                                
01 motor vehicle special registration plates honoring Alaska Native heritages under                                        
02 AS 28.10.181(ll), enacted by sec. 1 of this Act, consult with the House Special Committee on                            
03 Tribal Affairs regarding the design and color of the plates.
