01 "An Act relating to genetic genealogy, DNA testing, DNA analysis, DNA privacy, and                                      
02 DNA property rights."                                                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 18.13 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
05            Sec. 18.13.040. Genetic genealogy exemption. This chapter does not apply to                                
06       the collection of a DNA sample from an individual, at the individual's request, to                                
07       perform a DNA analysis on the sample, retain the DNA sample or the results of the                                 
08       DNA analysis, and disclose of the results of the DNA analysis, if a person does the                               
09       collection, performance, retention, or disclosure in the course of the person's business                          
10       of determining genetic genealogy. In this subsection, "genetic genealogy" means the                               
11       use of DNA to establish ancestral origins or ancestral relationships between or among                             
12       individuals.
