01 "An Act relating to candidate statements and material submitted by political parties                                    
02 that are published in the state election pamphlet; and providing for an effective date."                                
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 15.58.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                         
05            (i)  The statement of a candidate for an office designated under (a), (b), or (g)                            
06       of this section may not include a reference to                                                                    
07                 (1)  a political party of which the candidate is not a member;                                          
08                 (2)  another person who is currently a candidate for elective public                                    
09       office; or                                                                                                        
10                 (3)  a public official as defined in AS 39.50.200(a), a member of the                                   
11       legislature, or a person appointed or elected to public office in any branch of the                               
12       federal government.                                                                                               
13    * Sec. 2. AS 15.58.040 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
14            (c)  The material submitted by a political party under this section may not                                  
01       include a reference to or an image or other depiction of                                                          
02                 (1)  a current candidate for elective public office;                                                    
03                 (2)  another political party; or                                                                        
04                 (3)  a public official as defined in AS 39.50.200(a), a member of the                                   
05       legislature, or a person appointed or elected to public office in any branch of the                               
06       federal government.                                                                                               
07    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
