00 Enrolled HB 113 01 Relating to the membership of the Alaska Fire Standards Council. 02 _______________ 03  * Section 1. AS 18.70.330(b) is amended to read: 04 (b) The council consists of the following persons: 05 (1) Two chief administrative officers or fire chiefs [OF LOCAL 06 GOVERNMENT]; only one person appointed under this paragraph may be from a 07 [LOCAL GOVERNMENT WHERE THE] fire department that consists entirely of 08 paid employees; 09 (2) the state fire marshal or a designee of the state fire marshal; 10 (3) four representatives of firefighters, including at least one member  11 of [FIREFIGHTER ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER FROM] the Alaska State 12 Firefighters Association nominated under (c) of this section and at least one  13 member of the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association nominated under  14 (c) of this section; a person appointed under this paragraph may not, while serving on 15 the council, be a fire chief; 01 (4) two volunteer firefighters, one from a community with a population 02 of 2,500 or less and one from a community with a population greater than 2,500; 03 [AND] 04 (5) two members of the public at large with at least one member from a 05 community with a population of 2,500 or less;  06 (6) one member of the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association nominated  07 under (c) of this section. 08  * Sec. 2. AS 18.70.330 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 09 (c) The governor shall appoint members of each association named in (b) of 10 this section from a list of at least three nominees submitted by each association. The 11 governor may reject a list submitted under this subsection and request that another list 12 be submitted. 13  * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 14 read: 15 TRANSITION. The membership requirements for the Alaska Fire Standards Council 16 in AS 18.70.330(b)(1) and (3), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, apply to appointments made 17 on or after the effective date of this Act.
