01 "An Act prohibiting a health care insurer from denying coverage for an additional                                       
02 quantity of eye drops prescribed by a physician."                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 21.42 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
05            Sec. 21.42.420. Coverage for prescription eye drops. A health care insurer                                 
06       that offers, issues for delivery, delivers, or renews a health care insurance plan in the                         
07       group or individual market in the state that provides coverage for prescription eye                               
08       drops shall allow for the limited refilling of an eye drop prescription prior to the last                         
09       day of the prescribed dosage period without regard to a coverage restriction for early                            
10       refill of prescription renewals. A refill dispensed prior to the expiration of the                                
11       prescribed and approved coverage period shall be limited in quantity, to the extent                               
12       practicable, to the amount of the remaining dosage initially approved for coverage.                               
13    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
14 read:                                                                                                                   
01       APPLICABILITY. AS 21.42.420, added by sec. 1 of this Act, applies to a health care                                
02 insurance plan offered, issued for delivery, delivered, or renewed after the effective date of                          
03 this Act.
