01 "An Act providing for an apprentice hunting program."                                                                   
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
04            Sec. 16.05.352. Apprentice hunting program. (a) A resident under 18 years                                  
05       of age who has obtained the appropriate license required under AS 16.05.330 -                                     
06       16.05.340 for the taking of game or who is exempt under AS 16.05.400 may take                                     
07       game without having completed a hunter education course or hunter safety course                                   
08       required by the department in regulation if the person is accompanied by and under the                            
09       immediate supervision of                                                                                          
10                 (1)  a resident who is at least 18 years of age who has obtained the                                    
11       appropriate license required under AS 16.05.330 - 16.05.340 and has completed a                                   
12       hunter education course or hunter safety course as required by the department in                                  
13       regulation; or                                                                                                    
14                 (2)  a resident who is at least 25 years of age who has obtained the                                    
15       appropriate license required under AS 16.05.330 - 16.05.340.                                                      
01            (b)  In this section, "immediate supervision" means within audible and visual                                
02       range of a resident described in (a)(1) or (2) of this section.
