00 HOUSE BILL NO. 415 01 "An Act relating to 911 call recordings and the release of information regarding 911 02 calls." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04  * Section 1. AS 40.25.120 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 05 (d) Subject to (a)(6) of this section, the transcript of a recording of a 911 call 06 is a public record except to the extent it contains information that is confidential under 07 another provision of law. All or part of the transcript of a recorded 911 call that has 08 been obtained as a public record under this subsection may be read on radio, 09 television, the Internet, or other broadcast medium. However, the recording of the 911 10 call may not be played on any broadcast medium, and a person who knowingly does 11 so is guilty of a class A misdemeanor, but may be punished only by a fine of not more 12 than $10,000. In this subsection, "knowingly" has the meaning given in AS 11.81.900.
