01 "An Act authorizing credit in a public correspondence study program for privately                                       
02 purchased curriculum materials from a religious institution."                                                           
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.03.090 is amended to read:                                                                     
05            Sec. 14.03.090.  Partisan, sectarian, or denominational doctrines                                          
06       prohibited.  Except as provided in (b) of this section, partisan [PARTISAN],                                  
07       sectarian, or denominational doctrines may not be advocated in a public school during                             
08       the hours the school is in session.  A teacher or school board violating this section may                         
09       not receive public money.                                                                                         
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 14.03.090 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                             
11            (b)  Nothing in this section prohibits a school district that operates a                                     
12       correspondence study program from giving credit for the completion of curriculum                                  
13       using materials purchased with private funds from a religious institution if the                                  
14       materials are otherwise aligned with state performance standards.
