00                        HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 1                                                                     
01 Proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska                                        
02 relating to an appropriation limit.                                                                                     
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  Article IX, sec. 16, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is repealed and                            
05 readopted to read:                                                                                                      
06            Section 16.  Appropriation Limit.  General fund appropriations by the                                      
07       legislature shall not exceed anticipated revenue.                                                                 
08    * Sec. 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of                          
09 the state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the                        
10 State of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
