01 "An Act extending the termination date of the State Board of Registration for                                           
02 Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors; relating to the membership of the State                                      
03 Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors; and providing for                                  
04 an effective date."                                                                                                     
05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
06    * Section 1.  AS 08.03.010(c)(3) is amended to read:                                                               
07                 (3)  State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land                                    
08       Surveyors (AS 08.48.011) - June 30, 2009 [2005];                                                              
09    * Sec. 2.  AS 08.48.011(b) is amended to read:                                                                     
10            (b)  The board consists of 11 [10] members appointed by the governor having                              
11       the qualifications as set out in AS 08.48.031. The board consists of                                              
12                 (1)  two civil engineers;                                                                       
13                 (2)  [,] two land surveyors;                                                                    
14                 (3)  [,] one mining engineer;                                                                 
01                 (4)  [,] one electrical or mechanical engineer;                                                 
02                 (5)  [,] one engineer from another branch of the profession of                                      
03       engineering;                                                                                                  
04                 (6)  [,] two architects;                                                                        
05                 (7)  one landscape architect; [,] and                                                               
06                 (8)  one public member.                                                                             
07    * Sec. 3.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                         
08 read:                                                                                                                   
09       APPOINTMENT OF NEW BOARD MEMBER.  (a)  On or before September 1,                                                  
10 2005, the governor shall appoint a new member to the State Board of Registration for                                    
11 Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors to satisfy the requirement of AS 08.48.011(b), as                             
12 amended by sec. 2 of this Act.  The member shall be an individual who is registered under                               
13 AS 08.48 to engage in the practice of landscape architecture and who is otherwise qualified                             
14 under AS 08.48.031 to be a member of the State Board of Registration for Architects,                                    
15 Engineers, and Land Surveyors.                                                                                          
16       (b)  The term of the member appointed under (a) of this section is four years from the                            
17 date of appointment.                                                                                                    
18    * Sec. 4.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2005.
