00 SENATE BILL NO. 42 01 "An Act relating to the office of victims' rights." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03  * Section 1. AS 24.65.110(a) is amended to read: 04 (a) The victims' advocate shall assist crime victims in obtaining the rights 05 crime victims are guaranteed under the constitution and laws of the state with regard 06 to the contacts crime victims have with [THE] justice agencies [OF THE STATE]. 07  * Sec. 2. AS 24.65.250 is amended to read: 08 Sec. 24.65.250. Definitions. In this chapter, 09 (1) "justice agency" means a department, office, institution, 10 corporation, authority, organization, commission, committee, council, court, or board 11 of a municipality or in the executive or judicial branches of the state government that 12 is, in any manner, involved with or responsible for the apprehension, prosecution, 13 incarceration, or supervision of criminal or juvenile offenders; it also includes an 14 officer, employee, or member of an agency acting or purporting to act in the exercise 15 of official duties; 01 (2) "victim" 02 (A) has the meaning given in AS 12.55.185; or  03 (B) for crimes related to AS 47.07, means the state. 04  * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 05 read: 06 APPLICABILITY. The amendments to AS 24.65.110 and 24.65.250 in this Act do 07 not affect the repeal of those sections by secs. 41 and 51, ch. 92, SLA 2001. Sections 41 and 08 51, ch. 92, SLA 2001, repeal the amendments to AS 24.65.110 and 24.65.250 made in this 09 Act.
