01 "An Act relating to mercury classics; and providing for an effective date."                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 05.15.690(27) is amended to read:                                                                 
04                 (27)  "mercury classic" means a game of chance where a prize of                                         
05       money is awarded for the closest guess of the time the temperature reaches a certain                              
06       degree and is limited to the                                                                                      
07                      (A)  Homer Mercury Classic operated and administered by                                        
08            the Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula; and                                                      
09                      (B)  mercury classic operated and administered by the Greater                                  
10            Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce or jointly, in the discretion of the Greater                                   
11            Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, by the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of                                           
12            Commerce and the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors' Bureau;                                                  
13    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect January 1, 2004.
