01 "An Act relating to 'take-a-child-hunting' seasons for big game."                                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05.255 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04            (j)  For the purpose of encouraging adults to take children hunting, the board                               
05       shall establish annual hunting seasons in appropriate areas of the state for big game,                            
06       other than bison and musk ox, that are open before schools start in the fall and before                           
07       regular hunting seasons begin.  Only a resident adult and a resident or dependent child                           
08       who accompany each other may engage in big game hunting in an area where a season                                 
09       established under this subsection is in effect.  In this subsection,                                              
10                 (1)  "adult" means an individual who is 21 years of age or older;                                       
11                 (2)  "child" means an individual who is not more than 17 years of age                                   
12       and not younger than eight years of age.
