00 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 33 01 Expressing gratitude to President George W. Bush, to the President's cabinet, and to the 02 men and women of the United States armed forces and declaring support for the war on 03 terrorism. 04 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 WHEREAS, since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, President George W. 06 Bush has shown leadership at home, using his office to rally the nation and wisely counseling 07 the American people to be patient and determined in the fight against terrorism, and has 08 shown leadership internationally, building a broad coalition of nations to support the fight 09 against terrorism; and 10 WHEREAS Secretary of State Colin Powell has led a successful effort to build a 11 worldwide coalition to fight terrorism; and 12 WHEREAS Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has led a successful military 13 effort against sponsors of terrorism abroad; and 14 WHEREAS Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge is leading the effort to build 15 an effective defense against the terrorist threat; and 01 WHEREAS the men and women of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine 02 Corps, and Coast Guard have shown great courage and sacrifice, protecting the American 03 people from the threat of international terrorism; 04 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature expresses gratitude to President 05 George W. Bush, to the President's cabinet, and to the men and women of the United States 06 armed forces for their leadership and sacrifice; and be it 07 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature declares support for this 08 long and difficult war on terrorism. 09 COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable George W. Bush, President 10 of the United States; and to the Honorable Ted Stevens and the Honorable Frank Murkowski, 11 U.S. Senators, and the Honorable Don Young, U.S. Representative, members of the Alaska 12 delegation in Congress.
