01 "An Act relating to records of veterans of the armed forces; and providing for an                                       
02 effective date."                                                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 26.10.070(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05            (a)  A veteran may record without fee the veteran's armed forces report of                                   
06       separation at a recorder's office of the Department of Natural Resources.  [EACH                                  
07       RECORDER'S OFFICE SHALL PERIODICALLY SUBMIT TO THE BUREAU OF                                                      
08       VITAL STATISTICS COPIES OF THE REPORTS OF SEPARATION THAT IT                                                      
09       RECORDS.]                                                                                                         
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 26.10.070(b) is repealed.                                                                            
11    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
