01 "An Act relating to the right to attend public school and to students who are                                           
02 over school age."                                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.03.080(b) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (b)  A person over school age  shall  [MAY] be admitted to the public school                                        
06 in the school district in which the person is a resident  if the person has not received                               
07 a secondary school diploma and the person applies for admission to  [AT THE                                            
08 DISCRETION OF] the governing body of the school district.  A person  who attends                                       
09 public school and who is  over school age  shall be counted in the same manner as                                     
10 a person of school age for purposes of public school funding under AS 14.17 and                                         
11 is subject to AS 14.30.045 and other rules governing other students in the district                                    
12 [MAY BE CHARGED TUITION BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE SCHOOL                                                             
13 DISTRICT].
