00 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 22                                                                                     
01 Proposing amendments to the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature                                               
02 relating to the hours for convening and adjourning from daily sessions; and                                             
03 providing for an effective date.                                                                                        
04 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
05    * Section 1.  Rule 13 of the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature is amended to                             
06 read:                                                                                                                   
07  RULE 13.  HOUR FOR CONVENING AND HOUR FOR ADJOURNING.                                                              
08 (a)  Each house shall convene daily, except Sunday, at 10:00 a.m., unless otherwise                                    
09 ordered by a majority vote of the members present.  However, in no case may a                                          
10 house convene a daily session before 8:00 a.m.                                                                         
11    * Sec. 2.  Rule 13 of the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature is amended by                                
12 adding a new subsection to read:                                                                                        
13  (b)  A house shall adjourn from a daily session by 9:00 p.m., unless otherwise                                        
14 ordered by a majority vote of at least three-fourths of the full membership of that                                     
01 house.  If a house is in session at 8:55 p.m., the chief clerk or secretary shall announce                              
02 the time to the house.                                                                                                  
03    * Sec. 3.  The amendments proposed by this resolution take effect immediately.
