01 "An Act relating to the management of fisheries to protect fish habitat."                                               
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
04  Sec. 16.05.735.  PROTECTION OF FISH HABITAT.  In managing fisheries                                                   
05 in a river, stream, lake, or similar body of water that is important for the spawning,                                  
06 rearing, or migration of anadromous fish, the Board of Fisheries and the department                                     
07 shall, consistent with their respective authority under this title, seek to minimize the                                
08 degradation or destruction of anadromous fish habitat due to fishing activities if the                                  
09 fishing activities associated with the fishery would result in significant, either in itself                            
10 or cumulatively with other fisheries, degradation or destruction of anadromous fish                                     
11 habitat in the body of water.
