00 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 14 01 Relating to the naming of the Harold Z. Hansen Hatchery at Fort Richardson, 02 Alaska. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 WHEREAS Harold Z. Hansen was an early state leader and supporter and developer 05 of commercial fishing in Southeastern Alaska, Kodiak Island, and Cordova; and 06 WHEREAS Mr. Hansen provided leadership and guidance when he served as chair 07 of the Cordova fish and game advisory board; and 08 WHEREAS Mr. Hansen was a strong supporter of the democratic process in Alaska 09 and served with great ability and distinction in the Alaska House of Representatives and the 10 Alaska Senate from statehood in 1959 until 1967; and 11 WHEREAS Mr. Hansen brought honor and respect to the State of Alaska from 1971 12 until 1974 as director of the Office of International Fisheries in the Office of the Governor; 13 and 14 WHEREAS Mr. Hansen displayed throughout his life a keen and active interest in 01 Alaska's fisheries resources, fishing industries, and, most importantly, people who worked in 02 and depended upon Alaska's fisheries; 03 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature respectfully requests the 04 Governor to designate the state hatchery at Fort Richardson as the Harold Z. Hansen Hatchery.
