00 CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 195(RLS) 01 "An Act relating to the licensure of physical therapy assistants." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 08.84.030(a) is amended to read: 04  (a) To be eligible for licensure by the board as a physical therapist or physical 05 therapy assistant, an applicant, unless a graduate of a foreign school of physical 06 therapy located outside the United States, shall 07  (1) have graduated from a school of physical therapy approved by the 08 Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association [,] 09 or the American Physical Therapy Association or, in the case of an applicant for 10 licensure as a physical therapy assistant, have completed, to the satisfaction of the 11 board, a resident course of study and professional instruction equivalent to that 12 provided by a school approved by the Council on Medical Education and 13 Hospitals of the American Medical Association or the American Physical Therapy 14 Association; 01  (2) pass to the satisfaction of the board an examination prepared by a 02 national testing service approved by the board to determine the applicant's fitness for 03 practice as a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant, or be entitled to licensure 04 without examination as provided in AS 08.84.060; 05  (3) meet qualifications for licensure established in regulations adopted 06 by the board under AS 08.84.010(b).
