00 CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 195(HES) 01 "An Act relating to the licensure of physical therapists and physical therapy 02 assistants." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 08.84.030(a) is amended to read: 05  (a) To be eligible for licensure by the board as a physical therapist or physical 06 therapy assistant, an applicant, unless a graduate of a foreign school of physical 07 therapy located outside the United States, shall 08  (1) have graduated from a school of physical therapy approved by the 09 Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association [,] 10 or the American Physical Therapy Association or have completed, to the satisfaction 11 of the board, a resident course of study and professional instruction equivalent 12 to that provided by a school approved by the Council on Medical Education and 13 Hospitals of the American Medical Association or the American Physical Therapy 14 Association; 01  (2) pass to the satisfaction of the board an examination prepared by a 02 national testing service approved by the board to determine the applicant's fitness for 03 practice as a physical therapist or physical therapy assistant, or be entitled to licensure 04 without examination as provided in AS 08.84.060; 05  (3) meet qualifications for licensure established in regulations adopted 06 by the board under AS 08.84.010(b).
