00 HOUSE BILL NO. 209 01 "An Act relating to community health aide grants." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 18.28.010(a) is amended to read: 04  (a) A qualified regional health organization is entitled to a grant of $30,000 05 each fiscal year for the training and supervision of [AT LEAST THREE] primary 06 community health aides if the organization or another local or regional health 07 organization employed at least three primary community health aides on July 1, 08 1984, to serve the communities proposed to be served under the grant. 09 * Sec. 2. AS 18.28.010(b) is amended to read: 10  (b) During each fiscal year, a qualified regional health organization or local 11 health organization is entitled to a grant of $8,000 multiplied by the number of primary 12 community health aides who were employed by that organization or another local 13 or regional health organization during the previous fiscal year who each week 14 during the previous fiscal year averaged at least 20 hours of service in the 01 communities proposed to be served by the grant [PAID FOR BY THE HEALTH 02 ORGANIZATION], but not to exceed the number of primary community health aides 03 who were employed by a local or regional [THE] health organization on July 1, 1984, 04 to serve the communities proposed to be served under the grant. 05 * Sec. 3. AS 18.28.100(6) is amended to read: 06  (6) "regional health organization" means a nonprofit corporation or 07 home rule borough that provides [PROVIDED] health aide services 08  [(A)] under a contract with the Alaska Native Health Service 09 [THAT WAS IN EFFECT ON JULY 1, 1984; AND 10  (B)] in a rural area that is at least 4,000 square miles.
