To search for a single word, type the word in a Query For: box and click the Search button.
You may search using the wildcard characters * and ?,.
The question mark (?) character searches for one character. For example, the search wom?n would find "woman" or "women."
The asterisk (*) character searches for multiple characters. For example, the search th*t will find "thought," "that," and anything else starting with "th" and ending with "t." The search run* will find "run" and anything that begins with run (running, runaways, runway, runoff, etc).
You may use the search operators "and," "or," and "not." To search for two or more words together in the same record, use the 'and' operator. When search for more than one word, this is the default, so if you do not specify a search operator, 'and' will be used. To search for either search term, use 'or.' Example: red or blue. To find records that contain one search term, but not the other, use 'not.' Example: red not blue.
To search for a phrase (more than one word which you want to be found together), surround the phrase in quotation marks ("). For examples: "longevity bonus" or "department of administration".

In the Alaska Statutes, each title, chapter, and section is a 'group.' To search only within a specific title, chapter or section, you must specify the group name. Title groups are name 'title' followed directly by two numbers; for example, title01 or title47. Chapter groups are named 'chapter' followed directly by four numbers (the title and chapter numbers); for example, chapter0105 or chapter4775. Section groups are named 'section' followed by seven numbers (the title, chapter, and section numbers); for example, section0105006 or section4790070.

In the Alaska Administrative Code, there is a level named Code Segment. This level can be used to search for words or phrases occurring in the Administrative Code text. The following example will search for the word "drafting" only within the actual text of the code.
