BIO:
The needs across the North Slope and Northwest Arctic are urgent, and our district deserves a representative that will listen to the people from our communities. I will do that. I will listen. I will work collaboratively with my colleagues in the legislature to represent our region. Good schools are an important part of our future. I was raised by an educator who fought for our young people and to maintain our language. My work and motivation is in remembrance and in recognition for my Aaka. I will work on securing adequate funding for our students, who are the future of our communities. I will support responsible development of our resources. From the Red Dog Mine to the North Slope Oil Fields, House District 40 provides wealth for all of Alaska. We rely on subsistence hunting on our lands, rivers and oceans to sustain our physical and cultural well-being as a link to our ancestors and traditions. In order to increase infrastructure and revenues that our communities rely upon, we must support resource development while respecting the knowledge and culture of our people. We have demonstrated that we can develop our resources and protect our way of life. Many communities need investment to address the threat of erosion, and many have no reliable public safety presence.
