WITNESS REGISTER ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 98-3 , SIDE A CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 4:06 p.m., and noted the presence of Senators Torgerson, Taylor, Leman and Kelly. SB 236 - CITIZENS ADVISORY COM ON FED AREAS IN AK CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 236 before the committee and requested a calendaring motion. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent SB 236 be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SB 304 - REGULATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES & HWYS CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 304 before the committee as the next order of business. He directed attention to one section of the bill that prohibits driving in the left lane of a divided highway unless in the process of passing another vehicle. He said the section was troublesome to him, and after brief discussion, it was agreed by committee members to hold the bill for further review and possible amendment. CSHB 199(JUD) - COMMUNITY PROPERTY CHAIRMAN KELLY brought CSHB 199(JUD) before the committee as the next order of business. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 199(JUD) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CSHB 53(RLS)(title am) - LEASE-PURCHASE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES CHAIRMAN KELLY brought CSHB 53(RLS)(title am) before the committee as the final order of business. SENATOR LEMAN moved and asked unanimous consent CSHB 53(RLS)(title am) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. SENATOR TORGERSON objected. The roll was taken with the following result: Senators Taylor, Leman and Kelly voted "Yea" and Senator Torgerson voted "Nay." CHAIRMAN KELLY stated the calendaring motion carried. There being no further business to come before the committee, the meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
