ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 97-6, SIDE A VICE CHAIRMAN LEMAN called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 10:52 a.m. He noted the presence of Senators Taylor, Torgerson, Duncan and Leman. VICE CHAIRMAN LEMAN reviewed the items on the committee agenda and requested calendaring motions on the legislation. SENATOR TAYLOR moved SB 187 ( UNIVERSITY TUITION PAYMENT PROGRAM) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved HB 18 (STATE PROCUREMENT DISABILITY PREFERENCES) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved CSHB 20(FIN) (DOG MUSHING CONTESTS) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved CSHB 133(L&C) (ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS & SURVEYORS) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. SENATOR TAYLOR moved SB 60 (ADVISORY VOTE ON CAPITAL PUNISHMENT) b approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. SENATOR DUNCAN objected. The roll was taken with the following result: Senators Torgerson, Taylor and Leman voted "Yea" and Senator Duncan voted "Nay." VICE CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the calendaring motion carried. VICE CHAIRMAN LEMAN brought HB 214 (WORKERS COMP:TEMP. ASSISTANCE/MED. CONDIT) before the committee. SENATOR TAYLOR moved the following amendment to HB 214: Amendment No. 1 Page 1, line 8: After the phrase "makes a false statement" insert "in writing" Hearing no objection to the amendment, VICE CHAIRMAN LEMAN stated the amendment was adopted. SENATOR TAYLOR moved HB 214 and the accompanying Senate Rules Committee amendment be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
