ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 97-3, SIDE A CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 10:53 a.m., and noted the presence of Senators Leman, Togerson, Duncan and Kelly. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 3 (MINOR'S CURFEW VIOLATIONS) before the committee, and hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved SB 3 be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 119 (FRATERNAL BENEFIT SOCIETIES) before the committee, and hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved SB 119 be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 134 (HOME SCHOOLING EDUCATION PROGRAM) before the committee, and hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved SB 134 be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought SB 150 (PUB. EMPLOYEES: MOVING, COMP TIME & PERS) before the committee. However, because there was question about a potential amendment and Rules CS, he stated the bill would be held over and rescheduled for committee action. CHAIRMAN KELLY brought CSHB 46(RES) (MINING CLAIMS ON PUBLIC LANDS before the committee, and hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR LEMAN moved CSHB 46(RES) be approved for calendaring at the discretion of the Chair. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. Before adjourning the meeting at 10:57 a.m., CHAIRMAN KELLY announced the committee would be taking up the House tort reform legislation and consideration of a possible Rules SCS at its next meeting.
