ACTION NARRATIVE TAPE 96-4, SIDE A CHAIRMAN MILLER called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SB 308 (PROHIBIT SAME SEX MARRIAGES) before the committee. SENATOR PEARCE noted she has had more requests on this legislation than anything else that has been before the committee to date. SENATOR SALO inquired if the requests were to calendar it or to not calendar it. SENATOR PEARCE responded they were to not calendar the bill. There being no further discussion, CHAIRMAN MILER asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent SB 308 be approved for calendaring. SENATOR DUNCAN objected. The roll was taken with the following result: Senators Pearce, Sharp and Miller voted "Yea" and Senator Duncan and Salo voted "Nay." The Chairman stated the motion carried on a 3-2 vote. CHAIRMAN MILLER brought SB 312 (LICENSEE BUYING LIQUOR FROM PACKAGE STORE) before the committee as the next order of business. SENATOR SALO moved and asked unanimous consent SB 312 be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered. CHAIRMAN MILLER brought HB 392 am (NATIVE VILLAGE CORPORATIONS) before the committee as the final order of business. Hearing no discussion, he asked for the pleasure of the committee. SENATOR SHARP moved and asked unanimous consent HB 392 am be approved for calendaring. Hearing no objection, it was so ordered.
