ACTION NARRATIVE 2:01:57 PM CHAIR GABRIELLE LEDOUX called the House Special Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. Representatives Tarr, Rauscher, Jackson, and LeDoux were present at the call to order. HJR 12-NORTHERN RAIL EXTENSION  2:02:54 PM CHAIR LEDOUX announced that the only order of business would be HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12, Supporting the completion of the Northern Rail Extension; supporting the increase in defensive capabilities at Fort Greely, Alaska; and encouraging the development of critical Arctic infrastructure. 2:03:31 PM REPRESENTATIVE RAUSCHER asked where the joint resolution would go once signed by the governor. 2:03:45 PM THOMAS STUDLER, Staff, Representative Dave Talerico, Alaska State Legislature, on behalf of Representative Talerico, prime sponsor of HJR 12, referred to page 2, line 28 through page 3, line 4 of HJR 12, which read:  COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States; the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives; the Honorable Chuck Grassley, President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate; the Honorable Patrick M. Shanahan, Acting United States Secretary of Defense; the Honorable David Bernhardt, Acting United States Secretary of the Interior; the Honorable Elaine L. Chao, United States Secretary of Transportation; and the Honorable Lisa Murkowski and the Honorable Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senators, and the Honorable Don Young, U.S. Representative, members of the Alaska delegation in Congress. REPRESENTATIVE RAUSCHER asked if Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) money would be used to fund this project. MR. STUDLER explained that the Alaska Congressional Delegation would seek funding from the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of the Interior, as well as utilize the 200 billion infrastructure dollars that were released this year. 2:05:09 PM REPRESENTATIVE TARR moved to report HJR 12 out of committee with individual recommendations and the accompanying fiscal note. There being no objection, HJR 12 was reported out of the House Special Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs. 2:06:13 PM ADJOURNMENT  There being no further business before the committee, the House Special Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs meeting was adjourned at 2:06 p.m.
